Getting There

THE BIG

DAY

Since this is someone's house on  a winding road, we can't have cars lining the hill. Alternative parking is available (scroll below) and we will be busing everyone to the picnic!

We will coordinate pick-ups from two places:

Saturday • July 23, 2016

Mini Ceremony: 2:30pm

Vows, kisses, flowers... You know the drill

Chillax: 3:00pm

We've got plenty of food and drinks for the lot of you. We've got a fun-filled afternoon for the kids and family. This part is easy. We shouldn't have to tell you how to party

BUT parking is scarce here so...

We've arranged for alternative parking and transport to and from the picnic. For details, click or scroll below:

It's a picnic!

We've rented a cute little house and the use of their backyard with views of the gorgeous Cold Spring mountains as our backdrop. We've always loved the Hudson River area, and wanted to share it with you!

We want this to be a fun and laid-back gathering with our favorite folks, and can't wait for you to be there with us to celebrate!

Picnic gear will be provided!

This is where it's happening...

What to Know

WHAT TO KNOW

Wedding Shoes

Please keep in mind that this is someone's property we've rented to play house for the occasion because we wanted to keep the guest list small and intimate.

A few helpful things to know:

The house has two bathrooms, with old pipes that clog easily. We've been asked to be delicate with the septic system.

Cell service is weak at times, best for Verizon users. There is, however, high-speed internet!

The phone number we've provided is a Google Voice number (646 820 1603) that will be funneling calls to the house landline, as well as anyone helping out with chauffeuring or picnic details. Feel free to call or text with any questions or arrangements!

Linger if you'd like but we've been asked to keep the volume low after 10pm. Because it's in the mountains, noise travels easily to neighbors!

What do I wear?

Our wedding will be casual. Feel free to look dapper for photos but please dress comfortably! This is a picnic and we will be sitting on blankets on the grass.

We're hoping that it will be sunny and clear, in which case you'll need sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes (the picnic is in a big, beautiful backyard! It is also on a hill). On the off chance that it rains you may want to bring rain gear, perhaps a change of clothes and a good disposition! 😏

Ladies; flats, wedges, and block-heels are good ideas unless you feel compelled to aerate the lawn (ballgowns and stiletto heels may be worn at your own risk)!

Some things to consider bringing:

  • Sunscreen and sun gear

  • Picnic-friendly and weather appropriate clothes

  • Umbrella

  • Change of clothes/shoes as needed

  • Smiles

  • Good vibrations

  • A-Game

Although we've reached out to all of you personally, since this is such a tiny gathering, feel free to send us a quick confirmation here to let us know you're in! Or just say hi!

STUFF

Your presence is all the gift we need! Really!

We pulled this together so that we can have a little relaxing shindig celebrating our marriage surrounded by some of our closest friends and family that mean the world to us. So much better than stuff! In lieu of a gift, bring on the smiles and good times!

Buuut... we also know some of you will ignore this! Because we live in a space-challenged apartment in NYC, we thought we should install preventative measures! 😉

Oy-Ya!

If you're wondering why "Oy-Ya?"

Well, we tried to think of something that represents a snapshot of us from the 10+ years that we've been together (you sure have been patient!)

What comes to mind are the day-to-day moments that we've shared and expressed our individual and mutual take on a spectrum of experiences.

Borrowing from our relative cultural backgrounds, we've colored many of these shared moments with the incredibly versatile expressions, "Oy-Vey!" and "Ai-Ya!"

And, of course, as is typical of coupledom, we borrowed from the other, and these became interchangeable. Thus the birth of the hybrid "Oy-Ya!"

"Oy" also sounds like the word for "love" in Cantonese. Yup.

It's a little silly, but so is life and it's quirks!  And, alas, we get to share these "Oy-Ya!" moments together.

And why otters? We apparently don't take selfies, and we hope to grow up to become otters some day.
